Teaching Ministry
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28: 19-20
The greatest Teacher, the Living Word and the Truth Jesus Christ, has given a command for all to be taught all the things He taught. God Himself (Jesus Christ) knew the importance of teaching this He demonstrated by spending the bulk of His time in ministry teaching and correcting false and self-seeking teachings by the Scribes and the Pharisees.
What is Teaching Ministry?
This is a Ministry of people knowledgeable about the Word of God whose primary objective is imparting this understanding to others. Effective teaching requires divine authority and the anointing of God. Matthew 7:29: “For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes." The right teaching is rooted in the Word of God such that it won’t contradict nor depart from the scripture or the doctrine of the Church.
The Importance of Teaching Ministry
How, then, shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher (teacher/messenger)? – Romans 10:14
The importance of teaching cannot be overemphasised. It is fundamental to the ‘winning of lost souls’ and crucial for the spiritual growth and development of the individual believer. Teaching creates knowledge and understanding of God Almighty for all. Teaching creates awareness about the grace and mercy that are abundant in the God of Israel. Teaching Ministry is, therefore, a tunnel to the light; teaching is a bridge to freedom and salvation.

"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive." -Ephesians 4:14
A solid foundation in the Word brings spiritual stability to believers. The correct teaching hinged on the fundamental principles of the Word of God liberates believers from all kinds of bondage and treachery. Teaching the Word of God assists believers in making the correct and informed life decisions so that they remain peaceful at all times. Teaching will not miraculously make all life problems go away; however, it can create and increase knowledge of the root cause of an individual’s problems. Knowledge is power, as the saying goes.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being a priest for Me. Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children – Hosea 4:6
Lacking knowledge is very dangerous. Legislation dictates that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Deliberately rejecting knowledge is outright suicidal. The Teaching Ministry, therefore, has the mammoth task of teaching the correct message so that people make the right informed decisions and may not be destroyed due to their lack of knowledge.
Who can be a good teaching minister?
Anyone can be a good teaching minister. It is important to point out that the greatest teaching ministers are conversant with the Word of God. They read and meditate on it daily. They also know the teachings and doctrine of the Catholic Church. Good teaching ministers are also knowledgeable on a wide array of subjects, especially human development. Teaching is also more effective if one learns or knows the art of public speaking.
It is very important to state that those who teach under the guidance of the Holy Spirit deliver more powerful and practical teachings. It is equally important to declare that the greatest teachers minister through their very lives; holy living is more effective than any word that could be uttered.
