3 Days of Prayer and Fasting from Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th of October 2024. This dedicated period is meant to intercede for the upcoming National Election and the nation of Botswana.

We encourage all members of the CCR Family and the faithful across Botswana to join in this spiritual exercise and seek God’s intervention, peace, and blessings for our nation during this crucial time.

Theme: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face...” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Dates: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

Fasting times: 6 am to 3 pm or as the HOLY SPIRIT leads (NB: For those under medical management, do adhere to medical instructions).

Focus of Prayer

1. Pray for a Smooth and Peaceful Election Process

Scripture Reference: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2 NRSV-CI)

Prayer: Ask God to bring about a peaceful and fair election, free from any disruptions or violence, ensuring that all processes are conducted with integrity and justice.

2. Pray for Wisdom and Discernment for Voters

Scripture Reference: “Choose for each of your tribes individuals who are wise, discerning, and reputable to be your leaders.” (Deuteronomy 1:13 NRSV-CI)

Prayer: Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help voters make wise choices in electing leaders who will genuinely serve the nation with a selfless heart.

3. Pray for the Elected Leaders to be Servant Leaders

Scripture Reference for Various Leadership Traits:

  • Contentment: “I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.” (Philippians 4:12 NRSV-CI)
  • Humility: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3 NRSV-CI)
  • Accountability: “Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens the wits of another.” (Proverbs 27:17 NRSV-CI)
  • Reliability: “Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” (Ruth 1:16 NRSV-CI)
  • Approachability: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NRSV-CI)
  • Consistency: “Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labour is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58 NRSV-CI)
  • Trustworthiness: “Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.” (Luke 16:10 NRSV-CI)
  • Exemplary Behaviour: “Conduct yourselves honourably among the Gentiles, so that, though they malign you as evildoers, they may see your honourable deeds and glorify God when he comes to judge.” (1 Peter 2:12 NRSV-CI)
  • Respectfulness: “In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12 NRSV-CI)

Prayer: Ask God to guide the elected leaders to embody these virtues, leading with humility, integrity, and selflessness for the good of the nation.

4. Pray for Unity and Harmony in the Country

Scripture Reference: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)

Prayer: Pray that Botswana may experience a spirit of unity and harmony, breaking down any divisions or tensions, and encouraging collaboration and understanding among all citizens. Pray that every tribe and community will come together with one purpose for the common good.

5. Pray for the Safety and Protection of the Nation

Scripture Reference: “The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (Psalm 121:7-8)

Prayer: Seek God’s protection over Botswana, safeguarding every citizen, leader, and electoral process from any form of harm or evil schemes. Pray against any plans of violence or chaos and ask for God’s peace to prevail.

6. Pray against false worship and the spirit of idolatry

Scripture Reference: “And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD's house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.” (Ezekiel 8:16)

Prayer: Let us pray against the spirit of idolatry trying to take root in our country through our leaders and politicians. Pray against misleading worship and negative spiritual influences on leadership that are defiling our Christian nation and are leading our people away from Jesus Christ.

Let us unite in prayer and fasting, trusting in God’s providence and sovereignty over Botswana.
